Let me start by saying that women’s golf clubs are different than men’s golf clubs. Most would agree that women’s bodies are different than men’s bodies and women’s brains work differently than men’s brains. This all plays a factor in how women’s clubs are designed and created.

For example, women tend to have a slower, more relaxed golf swing. A slower swing translates to shorter distance. But improved technology such as greater loft on the club face and lighter graphite shafts with greater flex are innovations designed specifically to tailor to women.

We tested dozens of sets of ladies golf clubs, and we will lay out our top picks and why in this article.

This club set covers all of the bases with 11 clubs: driver, 3-wood, 4 & 5 hybrid, 6 through 9 irons, pitching wedge, 56-degree sand wedge, and putter. A stand bag and 4 head covers are also included. All around, this is a really good set of clubs. Our only complaint is that the driver has a 10.5 degree loft. We would like to see more loft, which helps women get the ball in the air and achieve greater distance.

We found that the clubs delivered consistent distance and accuracy. They were also some of the most forgiving clubs we tested. The quality of these clubs is surprisingly great. The combination of quality, forgiveness, and consistent distance and accuracy is why this set tops our list. In our opinion, of all the club sets we tested, this one is the best.

Included in this set are 10 clubs: driver, 3-wood, hybrid, 6 through 9 irons, pitching wedge, sand wedge, and putter. Also included are a bag (your choice of stand or cart) and 3 head covers. These clubs have excellent lift, which makes getting the ball in the air a breeze. The driver and woods were among the best we tested.

We were able to consistently get good height and distance. The irons and wedges were much better than expected and performed as well as some other clubs that are much more expensive. The sand wedge in particular was extremely easy and smooth, providing tons of accuracy on shorter approaches from the rough and around the green. The quality of the clubs isn’t quite up to the Callaway Strata set. But dollar for dollar, this set provides the best value of all the sets we played.

This set comes with 9 clubs: driver, 3-wood, 5-hybrid, 6 through 9 irons, pitching wedge, and putter. Also included is a stand bag and 2 head covers. This is the 3rd time we’ve tested and reviewed this set of clubs because it has 2 amazing features. First, it’s the most forgiving set of clubs we’ve ever tested. Second, it has the best putter we’ve ever tried that comes in a complete set like this.

Although these clubs were originally made in 2018, as long as they remain the most forgiving clubs and are available, we’ll keep testing them and including them in our reviews and top picks. I’ve mentioned how easy these clubs are to hit, and that’s across the board from the driver to the pitching wedge. You don’t get the distance or the feel that you do with some of our other picks, but you get more consistently clean shots. And then there’s the putter.

Even though it reminds us of the bat symbol, this putter rivals other putters that cost as much is this entire set! Contact was consistently clean, alignment was a breeze, and the swing was so naturally smooth. I’ll say it again: this is the best putter we’ve ever tested that comes in a complete set like this. This set is a beginner’s dream, because it is so easy to hit. This is a great choice for a first set of golf clubs.

Best Women Golf Clubs On a Budget

Review

This set includes everything you need to get out on the course. Comes with 8 clubs: driver, fairway wood, hybrid, 6/7 iron, 8/9 iron, pitching wedge, sand wedge, and putter. Also included is a bag and 3 head covers. This set is our pick for those penny pinchers out there. And honestly, these clubs were better than we expected them to be. Even though it is only 8 clubs, we like that it comes with a hybrid and a sand wedge.

Designed for beginners, the fact that it uses only two irons to cover what traditionally is covered by 4 irons (6/7 iron & 8/9 iron vs. 6 through 9 irons), newcomers to golf won’t even notice any clubs were left out. The driver and wood didn’t blow us away, but they weren’t bad either. The irons performed much better than anticipated. We found the irons were forgiving and felt natural and smooth throughout the swing and contact.

Quality was clearly below that of its competitors, but that’s coming from seasoned golfers; beginner golfers would likely not be able to tell. Overall this is a decent, very inexpensive little set. Perfect for first timers looking to try out golf.

FAQ

What is the difference between men’s and women’s golf club sets?

Men are typically taller than women, so it is no surprise that women’s golf clubs are usually shorter than men’s clubs. Because the clubs are shorter, the club head speed will automatically be slower. (Without getting into a whole physics lesson here, for the same reason that the bottom of a pendulum is moving at a faster speed than the top of the same pendulum) Plus, men on average swing the club faster than women.

To help offset this club head speed drop, ladies’ clubs, especially drivers, fairway woods, and hybrids, will have more loft. This helps elevate the ball so the ball can carry farther. Also, women’s iron shafts will often be graphite, rather than steel. This makes the club lighter and therefore easier to swing faster.

How do you choose women’s golf clubs?

The answer to this question varies based on your skill level. If you are a newcomer, I would recommend finding clubs that are very forgiving. If you are an intermediate player, I would recommend clubs that enhance distance. Greater height often helps ladies get more distance, so lightweight clubs with more loft would help. For more advanced female golfers, you should ask around for somebody reliable and certified to custom fit the clubs to your swing.

What is the best brand of golf clubs for ladies?

Of all of the brands we tested, our top recommendation for women is the Callaway Women’s Strata Ultimate Set.

What are the best golf clubs for a lady beginner?

For beginners, we always suggest a club that is very forgiving. From our extensive testing, the most forgiving women’s golf set (for 3 years running) is the Top-Flite Women’s XL Golf Set.
